Her story was uncovered by a group of mid western high school students researching a project for their History class. He’s not a big story-teller when it comes to sharing experiences of his childhood. This is a must read, an important work of heartbreaking, courageous determination. The Holocaust holds an immensely painful lesson, but one that humanity can ill-afford not to re-teach. In Poland, Irena Sendler was elevated to a national hero and has helped Poland heal its wartime history.

The vocabulary is a little difficult for younger readers and the subject matter definitely something to be approached carefully. I expected that to be boring since I wanted to get into the story. The story is still relevant and making a difference today.

That experience made this so real in my mind and emotions.
